About the Sacred Music InstituteThe goal of the Sacred Music Institute is to glorify God by helping to train the next generation of passionate Catholic Musicians and Music Directors by:
1. Giving regular performances of major oratorios and other major Catholic works of Sacred Music. 2. Breaking down financial barriers for children & youth to access Catholic music education and music liturgy training. 3. Providing liturgical guidance, community, educational opportunities and resource assistance for Catholic Music Directors. St. Augustin, the Patron Saint of our parish, once said: "When religious texts are sung well, greater religious devotion is inspired: souls are moved...and with a warmer devotion kindled to piety than if they are not so sung." Our vision for the Institute of Sacred Music at St. Augustin Parish is to kindle this fire of worship through Sacred Music for future generations. We envision, like Augustin, music's ability to draw the faithful into closer devotion to God: (Regarding the hymns sung in the church of St. Ambrose) “The music surged in my ears, truth seeped into my heart, and feelings of devotion overflowed” - St. Augustin (Conf. 9.6) If you would like to be involved with this project please contact us here. |
